Marc Ferreira is a do it all type of musician doing everything on “Working Overtime”, except the drums who he left the load to leo Pagani. With the talents to match Eric Johnson in all aspects of musicianship (Keyboards, Bass, Guitar and Vocals) and songmanship, Marc is going to blaze his own path in the guitar and production master realm. “Let It Die”, “Bad Girl”, “Lazy”, “Paper Cut”, “Ordinary Life”, “Nobody’s Happy”, “Nr, Bad Deal”, “I’m Waiting”, “Sleeping On The Couch”, and “Working Overtime” will inspire those who enjoy a musician with all the tools to do a complete recording from beginning to end. “Working Overtime”, is on par with the fore mention Eric Johnson, as well as more contemporary artist Brian Adams and the super group Bon Jovi. I say, “Out with the old! In with the new!” Yes, there will always be the classics of “Parinoid” an “We Sold Our Soul For Rock ‘n’ Roll”. You can now take that mic out of Ozzy’s shaky hand and let Zak have his “Black Label Society”. Count Raven can step in and take over and add their own twist to the early “Sabbath” sound. With “The Poltergeist”, “Scream”, “Nashira”, “The Entity”, “Mammons War”,”A Lifetime”, “To Kill A Child”, “To Love, Wherever You Are”, “Magic Is…”, “Seven Days”, and “Increasing Deserts” are worthy of the mantle that was set by “Black Sabbath” in the beginning. SO if you have not figured it out yet “Count Raven” has a sound like what early “Sabbath” had mainly in the vocals but now take the music has the same down tune that “Tony” is famous for but add in the melodic feel of “Type O Negative” an you get “Mammons War”. Weather its gothic or just plain metal, I don’t care what you call it. These masters of darkness have picked it up an made it their own. So, Ozzy keep your Hollywood and you are no longer the “Prince Of Darkness”. “Count Raven” Owns that title and has a firm grip on it.

Even though there are only 2 songs on “Suicide…” Wrath (Composer) sends you into 37 minutes of his anguished psyche. Delivering a master piece that can only be experienced by those who live in despair and filth. But I feel to be able to get the full effect of what Malifactor is serving I am going to do all the songs Anyway. “Gargoyle Wizard”, “Drowning in Dirt”, “Ruff-Sicks”, “Go Away!”, “Locked In”, “BenWah”, “Intrusion”, an “Guantanamo” all gives off a rawness of brutality that can only be found at the end of a 12 Gauge shotgun that is strapped to the back of your head just as the trigger is being pulled. Once a long time ago when I was a kid I was outside playing with my friends when a pick-up truck with a camper turned down our street. Well we were in the street at the time playing and got out of the way and right when we did the left rear tire completely flew off the truck. Well when that happened the axel bit the cement of the street and sent sparks flying everywhere, the thing that really sticks out was the grinding noise of iron hitting cement and the total violence of that action. Seventh Star’s “Dead End” reminds me of that moment in time with a controlled vengeance. “Intro”, “Take I Bake”, “I Quit”, “Thick and Thin”, “Everyday”, “In The Lie Of The Beholder”, “Bondservant”, “Coldest Day”, “Game Over”, “Blood Money”, and the title Track “ Dead End” Will bring you into the age of newer metal of a mix of power filled riffs in the Hard-core fashion dwelling a little bit on the thrash side of metal. If I had to compare these guys it would be between Pissing Razors, Pantara and Pro-Pain that leaves them not like them but in that vein. Dead End will bring down the house in a mosh storm of bodies leaving its mark on any who dare.

Brainscab Review= The Element: Mind Sludge

This is probably in my experience in the metal world the best kept secret that has not been signed to a label. Rafa and Co. have a masterpiece that any true fan of metal needs to get their hands on. Being very heavy on the instrumentation in accordance to the progressive nature of metal for the listener to enjoy and share to the world. “Climbing Up The Stairs”, “City Of Angels”, “Pentatonic Rain”, “One Way Part I”, “One Way Part II”, “Thoughts”, “Breaking Chains”, “Same What”, “The Truth In The Eyes”, “Winds Of Autumn”, “Seventh Day”, “Utopia Part I”, and “Utopia Part II”, will send you on a journey that reminds me of some of the guitar masters that I grew up with. (Toney Malcalpine and Vinnie Moore, just to name a couple) Being majestic as well as dramatic in nature this first effort from The Element will enthrall all listeners and I do believe becomes a fan instantly. (Just Like I did my first listen)

As an extra bonus there are two covers as well that are very hard to find but I got them when I received theses recording. “Kashmir” the Led Zeppelin classic and in my opinion the best version I have ever heard as a cover for a song. “Flight of Icarus” The Iron Maiden Classic that will go great with any fans collection of covers.

There is nothing I enjoy is a well played and somewhat long recording by a metal band. Raining is one of those bands that has taken their “Pain Machines” effort to blast any listener into a Rock’n’metal frenzy matched note for note and riff to riff in high electronic energy. Matched with a high octane vocal attack that froths forward to be counted and delivered as a whole part of the music experience. Brainscab Review= Raptor: Nothing but Rage

Myself being a product of the 80’s metal scene and having an addiction to the metal sounds from that era you cannot flat me for comparing Raptor to some of those bands from that time. Some of those bands are the Lost and Flies on fire, but it doesn’t stop there because that is only the more rock sound that Raptor presents on “Nothing but Rage”. Of course sense the words are a mix of English and of their native tongue this band from Chile give a listener a mix of sonic blasts unique to the ear. But the major feel that I at least get from this effort is of a progressive heavy rock with a hint of death that is musically interesting as well as intense. “ Coleflecha”, “ Rituales Celestiales”, “ Rising Future”, “ Nothing but Rage”, “ Should I care For Me”, “Seed of Insania”, “ My Own”, “Some Other Life”, “ The Thing”, “ Xcso”, is the play list for Raptors, “ Nothing but Rage”. Get it play it you will not regret it.
